Sneinton Dominates in Heritage Week

Nottingham Heritage Open Days starts this Thursday (11th) until Sunday (14th) with a programme of 33 events in various location around the city. To find the full list of event visit www.heritageopendays.org.uk.

Sneinton has 6 events listed and they are:

Green’s Mill
Windmill Lane, Sneinton, NG2 4QB

A grade 2 listed, fully working windmill, once home of the 19th miller and mathematician George Green. David Bent, miller at Green’s Mill for 20 years, will give an illustrated talk on how the mill was restored from a burnt-out shell to become a working windmill and popular visitor attraction. Suitable for 16+. Partial disabled access.

Sneinton Hermitage Caves
Sneinton Hermitage, NG2 4BS

Part of Nottingham’s widespread network of caves. The Hermitage Caves were restored by the Sneinton Environmental Society and are the remains of a large range of caves lost when the railway was driven through the area in the 19th century. No disable access.

William Booth Birthplace Museum

Restored Regency terrace house, birthplace of William Booth, founder of the Salvation Army. Now a museum devoted to General Booth’s life and the work of the Army. Partial disabled access.

Sneinton Market Conservation Area Walk

A walk around Sneinton Market and Victoria Park looking at the fascinating mixture of the 19th and 20th century buildings and parkland which form this distinctive and characterful area of Nottingham.
