"We've had a Wilde Time"
The Wilde Brothers Glaziers, who have occupied a central position on Sneinton Dale for over 20 years, have sold the business and are looking forward to their well earned retirement.
I caught up with them today to talk about how they started and the secrets of their success:
“We left school with no qualifications but went to the top of our profession, at one time having a crew of 40 men fitting huge glass panels. We have contracts with top businesses in Nottingham.
Actually when we started over 30 years ago we were doing all sorts of odd jobs before concentrating on glazing. When setting up your own business the key thing is not to pay yourself too much early on but put it back into the business so it can grow.
It’s been hard work, 7 days a week, on call 24hrs a day to do the emergency repairs. In this job we have seen all sides of life! But in that time we’re never had a complaint! However there have been more and more regulations come in over the years
We are really looking forward to retirement to do a bit of fishing, gardening and that sort of thing. We are still going to be active in the community because we are born and bred here.”
These skills are not easy to replace and Wilde Bros will be missed. SBF will keep you informed as to the buyer of their lot on the Dale and the new enterprise that is going to be created.
